Tenchi Masaki's grandfather. He serves as the head priest of the Masaki Shrine. While he acts as a strict grandfather toward Tenchi, he also possesses a kind heart and watches over him with care. Although he usually appears laid-back, he is a brilliant strategist and proves to be more reliable than anyone else in times of crisis. In reality, he is the Crown Prince of the planet Jurai, and his true name is Masaki Yousho Jurai. He maintains a youthful appearance thanks to Funaho's power, meaning his elderly appearance is merely a disguise. He had been missing for 700 years after pursuing Ryoko, but he was actually living in hiding on Earth. Incidentally, the deity enshrined at the shrine he manages—"Masaki Amato"—is actually himself.
